Community Guidelines

A friendly pack starts with a few good rules.

PackTales connects strangers who share a love of dogs. These guidelines apply to everything you post, send and do in the app, and to meetups that start there.

Zero tolerance

The rules, in plain words

Objectionable content isn’t tolerated. Reported content is reviewed and removed, and people who break these rules are removed from PackTales. You must be 18 or older to join.

Be kind

  • No harassment, bullying, threats, stalking or intimidation, in posts, comments, reviews or chats.
  • No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or any other part of who someone is.
  • Disagree about the trail, not the person. Keep reviews about the place.
  • If someone asks you to stop contacting them, stop. Declined requests stay declined.

Keep it real

  • Use your real name and your own photos. Don’t pretend to be someone else.
  • Only post photos, trails and places you have the right to share.
  • Keep trail details, place reviews, heads-ups and dog profiles accurate. Other owners plan their walks around them.
  • One account per person. No bots, fake accounts or vote rigging in photo challenges or reviews.

Respect privacy

  • Never share someone else’s address, phone number, location or photos of them without permission.
  • Don’t post a trail, memory or photo that reveals where another person lives.
  • What you see in a pack chat, playdate chat or friend’s live location stays there. Don’t screenshot it to share elsewhere.
  • Don’t use phone lookups or live location to find or follow people who haven’t invited it.

Keep dogs safe

  • Nothing that shows or promotes animal cruelty, neglect, dog fighting or unsafe handling.
  • Be honest about your dog’s temperament, triggers and vaccine status before a meetup.
  • No selling, buying, breeding offers or rehoming animals for money.
  • Don’t give medical advice as if it were a vet’s. Point people to a licensed veterinarian.

Keep it family-friendly

  • No nudity, sexual content or sexual messages.
  • No violent, gory or graphic images, including injured animals shared for shock.
  • No content that promotes illegal activity, drugs or weapons.
  • No spam, advertising, promotions, scams or links to unrelated sites.

Use lost dog alerts responsibly

  • Alerts are for genuinely missing dogs only. Never use them to trick people into meeting you.
  • Only post sightings you actually saw, with the right place and time.
  • Never demand money to return a dog. Rewards are between the owner and the finder; PackTales doesn’t handle them.
  • Mark your dog as found as soon as it’s home so neighbors can stand down.

🚨 Is a person or dog in danger? PackTales is not an emergency service. Call your local emergency number or animal control first, then report it in the app.

Staying safe

Report, block and meet up safely

Tap ⚑ Report on any memory post, comment, trail, pack meetup, place, review, chat message or lost dog alert, pick what’s wrong, and add details if you like. Reports are private: the person you report is not told who sent it.

To report a person rather than a single post, report one of their posts and choose “Harassment or bullying”, or email Shane9020@icloud.com with their name and what happened.
